Dear Colleagues,
I would like to welcome you to the official website of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Cyprus.
In this website you can find information regarding the process of applying for registration of Nurses and Midwives in the Council’s Registries, the issuance of Licence to Practice and any other information that falls under the duties and responsibilities of the Council.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Cyprus, as the Competent Authority for safeguarding and upgrading the nursing and midwifery profession in Cyprus, is a guardian and representative of the nursing and midwifery sector.
It is a body of public law, appointed every four years from the Council of Ministers after a proposal is made by the respective Minister of Health, and the Council’s responsibilities and powers are determined by the Nursing
and Midwifery Law.
It operates on the basis of scientific criteria and principles, so that the nurses and midwives of Cyprus maintain high-level qualifications and continuous professional training. The Council will continue to work to the best of their ability for the integrity and virtue of the field and to advocate for health.
The Council is in daily contact with the respective bodies of other countries, to ensure that anyone who desires to register in one of the three registries of the Council are able to provide high quality and safe healthcare in our country.
In the age of digitalization and of digital economy and society, the Council considers as immediate and imperative the need for the modernisation, simplification and digitalization of all procedures that fall within its responsibilities.
With the immediate, valid and timely information of all interested parties, via the website, the field of nursing and midwifery as well as the Republic of Cyprus are updated and harmonized with the developments of the European Union and the international stage.
As the President of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Cyprus, I would like to express gratitude and honour all my colleagues, who offer their services and knowledge every day for the provision of quality healthcare to the citizens.
The recent pandemic shocked the entire planet and brought globally the health community beyond its limits, proved and confirmed that each healthcare professional has an important role to play in a developed healthcare system, and that the most effective approach is interdisciplinary and collaboration.
All of us have a duty to hark the contemporary challenges and to safeguard the General Healthcare System of our country, offering quality healthcare and a sense of security to the citizens.
I am sure that the Council’s contribution to the scientific and social development events in the field of health in our country will contribute constructively and productively.
